A Guide To The Android Market
Android Market is Google’s answer to Apple’s App Store, allowing for an organized listing and easy way to download applications made for the specific phone operating system. With the release of the Nexus One, phones with Google’s Android OS are expected to greatly expand and with new users will come a new hunger for applications. Google has stated from the start that the vision for Android Market is not only for users but as a way to attract developers. Such was the reasoning in choosing the term “market” over “store.” Android Market is not so much a store run by Google but a market made to bring together app developers and Android OS phone users.
History of Android Market
The first announcement of the coming of Android Market was on August 28, 2008 and it was made available as a beta version on two months later on October 22, 2008. Android Market began by offering only free applications during beta testing with the full purchase system being implemented in the U.S. and U.K. in February of 2009. Once month later, in March of 2009, 2,300 applications were available to users.
By the end of 2009, the applications available on Android Market had grown to over 20,000. This number put it ahead of Windows Mobile Market but still far behind the iPhone App Store at 100,000 applications. Even though Android Market falls short compared to the App Store, proponents are quick note that they reached the 20,000 mark much faster than the App Store. These same proponents also say that many of the App Store’s 100,000 applications are only duplicates of already existing applications and they serve only to make it more difficult to wade through for the average consumer.
Android Market Developers
In the beginning, only developers located in the U.S. and the U.K. were allowed to publish applications that carried a price tag. In April of 2009, Google announced plans to allow developers in Austria, France, Germany, Netherlands, and Spain to publish their priced Android apps and, making good on their word, soon afterward these countries had the ability to expand Android Market with their applications. Soon afterward, Japanese and Italian developers were added to the list. Australia, strangely, is absent from the list of countries that are allowed to publish priced applications and there has been much speculation about the reasoning behind this decision. As of today, the reasons why Australia has not been added remain a secret. Android app developers, no matter the country, do have one advantage over iPhone app developers and that is the fact that distribution of Android apps is not limited to Android Market. iPhone apps can only be distributed and purchased through App Store, but Google allows Android Apps to be distributed from any source, so many developers make Android apps available on their own website or on secondary Android application websites.
User Availability
Android Market is available to users in several countries around the world. The list of open Android Market countries includes:
Australia
Austria
France
Germany
Italy
Netherlands
New Zealand
Spain
United Kingdom
United States
Japan
Android Market Devices
Some of the devices that use the Android OS and have Android Market available are:
Acer Liquid A1
Archos 5 Internet Tablet
Barnes & Noble Nook
Dell Mini 3i
HTC– Dream, Magic, Desire, Hero, and Tattoo
Google Nexus One
T-Mobile Pulse
Lenovo OPhone
LG Eve
Motorola Droid
Samsung – Behold II, Galaxy, Moment
Tethering Applications
One controversy sparked by Android Market is the availability of applications that allow tethering of mobile devices to laptop or desktop computers. Tethering is a means by which a mobile device acts as a modem to provide internet access to a “tethered” computer. This type of internet access undercuts the separate internet service available to customers and tethering a mobile device in such a way is in direct violation of the T-Mobile user agreement. As a result, Google initially pulled all tethering applications off of Android Market. Later, however, they were restored to all other carriers exceptT-Mobile.

Today’s revelation of the Dell Aero is one of those sigh-inducing sorts of occasions. The Aero, officially announced this morning, is Dell’s first stab at the smartphone market (by Dell’s definitions, at least — the company released the Streak earlier this month, but it insists the 5-inch call-making device is a tablet and not a phone). Billed as “one of the lightest Android smartphones in the U.S.,” the Aero is now available for $99.99 with a two-year contract from AT&T.
So why the harsh words? It’s not because of the Aero’s unremarkable hardware — the phone runs on a 624MHz processor, a significant step down from the 1GHz chip used in most top-notch Android offerings these days — but rather because of the software Dell has chosen to load onto the device.
The Aero, you see, runs on Android 1.5 — an early version of Google’s mobile operating system that’s 16 months out of date and a lifetime behind in functionality and performance. For a brand new phone to be shipping with a year-old version of Android is simply embarrassing, both to Dell and to the image of the Android brand.
Dell’s Aero Smartphone: An Outdated Android
Dell Aero Android 1.5Android 1.5 — or “Cupcake,” as it’s nicknamed — debuted in April of 2009, just six months after Google’s first Android phone entered the world. Android has made leaps and bounds in growth and development since then, with four significant upgrades to the core operating system.
We’re not talking about small stuff here: Android’s user interface has been revamped, countless features have been added in, and the overall system speed has been boosted numerous times in the releases since 1.5. Dell may have given the Aero some bells and whistles of its own — a handwriting recognition utility, for example, and a “Flash Lite-enhanced” version of the Android browser — but it can’t make up for the months of innovation and improvement it’s shutting out.
No matter how you look at it, a phone with Android 1.5 is going to be slower and significantly less advanced than a device with a recent version of the OS. And it’s going to be crippled when it comes to third-party applications, too, as plenty of apps require Android 2.0 or higher to operate. Some, such as Google’s new Voice Actions voice-command system, won’t run on anything less than Android 2.2.
And while the high-end Android phones may cost closer to $200, price is no excuse: For $49.99, half the price of the Aero, you could get Verizon’s LG Ally phone. It ships with Android 2.1 and is already confirmed to be in line for the Android 2.2 upgrade. Even within AT&T, known for its less-than-wholehearted embrace of Android, you could snag the HTC Aria with Android 2.1 for an extra 30 bucks.
Dell’s Aero and the Bigger Android Picture
Dell Aero AndroidThe Aero actually isn’t Dell’s first Android-related offense. The Streak, Dell’s 5-inch-gadget-that-makes-calls-but-isn’t-a-phone, launched with Android 1.6 about a week and a half ago. That isn’t much better.
This trend is precisely why I’ve argued that it’s time for the baked-in Android UI to die. Companies like Dell (and also Sony Ericsson, with its recent Xperia 10 AT&T Android phone) spend so much time working on their modifications to the Android software that their devices are outdated by the time they debut. And even manufacturers that manage to do better with the release cycle tend to be extra slow on rolling out upgrades, thanks to the extensive software adjustments required with each release. The phone-makers may be trying to put their own marks on Android, but the manner in which they’re going about it ultimately does a disservice to their users. (And yes, there is a better way.)
Trying to sell a new phone with Android 1.5 is like trying to sell a new PC with Windows Me. Even if you’re selling it for slightly less than the top-of-the-line models down the aisle, it’s ridiculous, it’s silly — and it’s completely inexcusable.
Come on, Dell. You can do better than that.
We supply high quality Dell Laptop Battery are designed to be manufacturer compatible with your Dell Laptop. All Dell Batteries are brand new with 1 year warranty

MobiStealth Android spy phone software is an cell monitoring application which is used to spy on Android OS based mobile phones. MobiStealth Android spyware can be installed on any Android mobile that has an data connection. Once installed, MobiStealth starts to monitor certain cell activities.
The way MobiStealth works, is that a person must download MobiStealth’s spy software right into the Android mobile. This is accomplished through the Android’s net browser. After MobiStealth’s spy software is downloaded and installed, the software becomes undetectable and right away starts to silently record a range of info (call logs, SMS messages, GPS locations), browser & web bookmark history, and then anonymously uploads all the information to an internet web account.
The person that installed MobiStealth can now log into their account, and view all the events recorded on the Android mobile.
Here is a list of mobile events that are recorded by this application.
* Secretly Record Calls – Available only on GSM networks, this MobiStealth Android spy app feature enables you to secretly record all calls made from/to specific numbers on the Android phone. The {recorded calls are then uploaded to your online|each MobiStealth account.
* On Demand Remote Monitoring – This cool MobiStealth Android spy app feature will enable you to remotely record all conversations and sounds within a certain proximity of the Android cell phone. To use this feature, you simply send a secret text message to the target’s cell phone that you have installed MobiStealth, which will then trigger the recording to start. Once complete, the recording will be uploaded to your online account.
* Secretly View Pictures & Videos – By far, my most favorite feature of MobiStealth. This Android spyware feature (only offered by MobiStealth), will enable you to secretly grab and view all the images and videos that are on your target’s Android phone.
* Stealth GPS Tracking – With GPS tracking, you can secretly track the GPS coordinates of an Android user’s device. Coordinates are recorded and uploaded in predefined intervals, giving you a clear picture where the person you are tracking is.
* Recover & Read deleted text messages – All text messages that are received or sent from the Android device are recorded. This means even if the text messages are deleted immediately after being read, the Android app will continue to be transmit a copy of each message, and give you the ability to read the entire contents of every SMS text message.
* View Call History Logs – This MobiStealth spy phone software feature will permit you to read all of the inbound and outgoing call history logs of the mobile. In addition to recording inbound and outbound call info, the name stored in the mobile’s contact list that is associated to the number in the call logs (and texts messages) will be displayed.
Why would someone decide to use a product like MobiStealth? There are a variety of reasons why somebody would want to use Android cell phone spy softare, they include any of the following :
* Monitor & Track Cheating Spouses: Potentially one of the largest reasons why somebody purchases this kind of software is to spy on their spouse or partner. Maybe they are worried that their partner is not where they exclaimed they are or they would like to see what messages are being sent late at night when suddently “the boss calls” or similar sort of situation. With Android spy apps, a troubled partner can instantly see whether their partner is indeed being faithful. PC spy software has been around for a long while, but now that communication is being shifted away from PCs, and towards mobile phones, there has not been a method to secretly and quietly spy on your spouse’s cell phone, until now.
* Monitor Teenager Cell Use: For parents who stress about their teen’s cell use, or want a way to track their children in case they suddently cannot be found, cell spy phone software is a perfect choice. Maybe they are worried about their teen is involved in a taboo activity or parents want a way to track their children to ensure their teen is where they are meant to be, with Android spy software, all this is possible.
* Employee Monitoring: Android spy software could also be used to observe cell phone use on company provided devices. In certain industries, more buyer communiction is occuring on cell phones via texts. Without knowing what is being said and / or not having the ability to have a record of the communication may be in violation of compliance rules and rules. Also, in the event of a potential legal action, not having past records of specific client communication may put the company in peril. With this kind of software installed on company provided mobile phones, bosses can keep records of such activity.
* Personal Back Up : With increased functionality of mobile phones, data storage is rapidly becoming a concern. During the past, there was not any easy way to backup your call logs or text messages. Using this kind of software can do all of these things without requiring you to recollect to perform a “back up” of your info. Android spy phone software will back up all your SMS messages & call logs, so you never need to worry about not having an important SMS text message or look for a n important number that was accidently removed.
To summarize, MobiStealth Android spy software is a monitoring application that’s used for a variety of reasons to spy on an Android cell phone user. Though a few of them might not be seen as “appropriate” in everybody’s eyes, it’s up to the individual that purchases the software to decide the best use of the spy software based the situation that best fits them.
I’m a tech geek and author of numerous spy phone blogs and publications. Been researching, testing, & writing about spy phone software for several years..
